"Blue Stu" Herman

As time passes, memories take hold and past pleasures become our present realities.

Many of you don't know that "Blue Stu" had a massive stroke in 2005 Which rendered him aphasic.

Although, still able to play, he has not been doing so, because without being able to sing, it's not pleasing to him.

The road to rehabilitation has been slow, but very promising, and at last word he has decided to play and write again

Stu, your one tough mutha!

He was born, to his great surprise, in Detroit, Michigan in September of
'49. From the age of 7 years he played with, and learned from, the great
masters of what is now called "Piedmont Blues": the Rev. Gary Davis,
Mississippi John Hurt, Lightnin' Hopkins, John Lee Hooker, Sonny Terry, and
others too numerous to mention.

It was his great fortune to be in the right place at the proper moments all
through his early years to meet and learn from these greats, most all of
whom are now long dead and sorely missed. But their echoes remain in his
very identifiable right-hand, 3-finger picking style and the Rev. Gary
Davis' left-hand positions.

He has lately appeared locally with great regularity at such places as
Tobacco Road in Miami; Cheers in Ft. Lauderdale; Ray's Downtown Blues Club
in West Palm Beach; regularly at the yearly Riverwalk Blues Festival in Ft.
Lauderdale, and headlined at the Lyric Theatre in Stuart, Florida.

Busy as that is, now just over 50 years old, he has made 7 solo albums and
played in numerous studios nationwide on more than 140 other folks'
recordings. Four new solo efforts are soon forthcoming. Release is
expected within the year.

He even sings pretty well. What more can you say?
